London, April 2, 2020 (AltAfrica)-Ghana has taken delivery of additional 25, 000 Covid-19 test kits in its continued efforts to combat the spread of the deadly virus
Health Minister, Kwaku Agyeman-Manu told newsmen on that Ghana currently has “a little over half” the test kits President Akufo-Addo ordered for.

Ghana takes delivery of additional 25,000 covid-19 test kitsPresident Akufo-Addo, had a fourth-night ago announced that the government was in the process of securing some 50,000 test kits as part of measures to curb the spread of the novel coronavirus in the country.
Responding to a question at Wednesday’s press briefing, the minister said that Ghana was awaiting the remaining half.
But added “we have enough test kits to test all the samples collected so far”
In an address to the nation on Saturday, March 21, 2020, President Akufo-Addo indicated that contact tracing has been intensified as every person who has come into contact with infected persons will be tested for the virus hence the need to secure more test kits.
Ghana has so far conducted 4,560 tests on the deadly coronavirus.
The figure was disclosed by Dr. Badu Sarkodie from the Ghana Health Service (GHS).
Out of the figure, 161 cases have been confirmed with 5 deaths.
Three (3) of them have reverted back to negative status.
“Three (3) of the confirmed cases have fully recovered and reverted to negative status for COVID-19 after repeat test following recovery from symptoms,” he stated.
As at 31st March 2020, an additional thirty-one (31) confirmed cases have significantly improved with no symptoms and have been discharged from admission for home care pending repetition of laboratory tests. This adds to the 18 that were earlier being managed from home and bring the number of cases on home care to forty-nine (49),” the GHS update on the website read.
Processes for enhanced contact tracing and laboratory testing have been initiated. A total of 1,185 contacts have been identified and are being followed up.
